Acupuncture: What Can it Treat and What to Expect

Acupuncture: What Can it Treat and What to Expect

Acupuncture has been practiced as the main system of medicine in China for thousands of years. Needling acupuncture points has shown to reduce pain, increase energy and immunity, decrease stress, and stimulate the body’s natural healing process.

I specialize in treating acute and chronic pain and sports injuries. Acupuncture can effectively reduce inflammation, calm muscle spasm, increase circulation and relieve pain. I also regularly treat allergies, respiratory disorders, digestive disorders, headaches/migraines, women’s health(infertility, PMS, menopausal symptoms), stress/anxiety/insomnia, addiction and colds/sinus issues.

What to Expect During Your First Treatment

Many people are nervous about getting acupuncture needles placed on their body and understandably so. It is a very different sort of medicine. What most people don’t know is that it is very relaxing and you will feel great after your treatment.

An initial treatment begins with a thorough assessment of past and present health conditions to see what I can help with. You may discuss anything you wish to work on regarding your health. I insert 10-15 very fine needles on the body and you then relax for 25-30 minutes on the massage table.

I will check on you throughout the process to make sure you are comfortable and relaxed. You may feel pressure or an achy sensation with the needles but it does not hurt. After I usually finish with a light massage and you will walk out feeling refreshed and relaxed.
